Is It Time For Some New Tires On Your Vehicle? Here's What To Look For

Posted on

It is crucial that you are remaining alert and well aware of the condition of your tires so you can have them replaced as soon as it's needed. If you do not do this, you could find yourself stranded in your driveway because you have a flat or you could even get into an automobile accident if your tire blows out while going at a high rate of speed. To help you spot the need for new tires so you can try to avoid such issues, you will want to keep an eye out for the following signs.

Cupping

This is where small little sections of your tire tread are missing, and it might look like someone scooped some of the tread out with a small cup. This is a major problem and a sign that you need new tires right away. However, you will also need to have a mechanic take a look at the struts of your vehicle, as it is likely that they need to be replaced. If you don't solve the mechanical issue, the same cupping problem will appear on your new tires.

Wires

You should never be able to look at your tires and notice that there are some wires sticking through. If the tread of your tires has worn down that far, you are well past the time when you should have purchased new tires. They are now dangerous to use so you will want to refrain from driving anywhere. Instead, have your vehicle towed to the local tire shop that you trust. Also, if the wires are only showing on one side of the tire because the tread did not wear down evenly, you may have a problem with the alignment of your vehicle. Just like with the cupping issue, if the cause of the tire problem is not also resolved, you will find that your new tires will go bad in a very short amount of time. Call around to find a trustworthy mechanic that has the machines required in order to adjust the alignment of your vehicle.

When you are shopping for tires, make sure that you are going with a brand that you can trust and that they come with a warranty that you will be able to count on should there be a manufacturer problem that pops up later. Most people never have to make use of those warranties, but it is best to have it just in case.
